Blood Donation
The blood donation/transfusion film addresses the misconception and misinformation that the community members hold regarding blood donation and transfusion as a lifesaving intervention performed in the various facilities in the camp by demystifying ill-informed societal and traditional beliefs. This is demonstrated through the behaviours such as;
1. Lack of willingness to cooperate and consent to the procedure. Main reasons for the lack of willingness include the;
● Majority of community members believe that being transfused is an action going against their religious and cultural beliefs: For example, it is believed that it is taboo to receive blood from a non-Muslim.
● The fear of developing complications after transfusion that may result in death
● Getting transfused with blood that has not been properly screened may lead to getting certain diseases i.e. HIV (majorly), Hepatitis and bacterial contamination.
