Sagal - Cesarean Section Film
Gessi can be seen to be nervous; his body language and position show he is anxious. He removes his Tasbish from his pocket, and he begins to pray. A doctor comes, and Gessi is seen following the doctor to her office. Gessi asks the doctor how his wife and the baby are doing; the doctor responds by saying that his wife is having some complications with her pregnancy and that this is due to the failure of labour to progress meaning “The cervix begins to dilate and stops before the woman is fully dilated or the baby stops moving down the birth canal”. The doctor then recommends that she needs to be taken in for an emergency cesarean section surgery to save the life of both the mother and the child. Gessi disagrees with the proposal and tells the doctor that the procedure is a curse in the community and that it’s going to hinder her from bearing children in the future. The doctor is seen explaining to him some of the reasons that might lead to such processes and then emphasizes that the process is safe and it’s often done after critical assessment by a trained expert. Gessi seemed not to be convinced and believed that this was one of the schemes that doctors use to get paid a fortune. The doctor invites Gessi to see the condition of his wife who looks tired and distressed; he consents to the procedure and nods his head in approval. In the end, both the child and the mother are saved, and they name the child SAGAL meaning “Our ray of sunshine in the storm”
