"I want to use photography to share stories and educate others about the diverse and unique cultures across the world."

My interest in photography began in Form 2 when FilmAid visited my high school as part of the PROSPECTS program. We had a two-week photography course where they taught us about photography, from handling a camera to showing us beautiful photographs. When I learned that people in our community captured these photos they shared, I felt inspired and thought, 'If they can do it, why can't I?' I realised photography is about capturing moments and telling a story through photos. Photos can deliver a powerful message, whether it is about showing a different culture or addressing issues. I wanted to continue learning and asked my photography instructor how to do so. They told me that I could enrol in a FilmAid media class after finishing high school, and in my heart, I said I would join this class.

Since joining the class, I have improved my photography skills and learned about filmmaking, scriptwriting, and many other media skills! However, my true passion lies in photography, which offers the most flexible and cost-effective way to share stories. I dream of travelling worldwide and seeing cultures I have only heard of, capturing images I can share with others to educate them about the world. I also want to open my studio as a space for photoshoots and to provide editing services. This ambition was inspired by a friend of mine called Duncan Ekuwam, who, despite being disabled due to a car accident, manages a thriving editing studio. I also want to inspire others and use photography to share stories worldwide.
