Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.

This year’s International Women’s Day recognizes the contribution of women and girls worldwide, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response to build a more sustainable future for all.

Themed “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, we join the rest of the world in calling for climate action for women by women to mitigate risks for a sustainable future.

Women and girls experience the most significant impacts of the climate crisis as it amplifies existing gender inequalities and puts women’s lives and livelihoods at risk. Across the world, women depend more on, yet have less access to, natural resources and often bear a disproportionate responsibility for securing food, water, and fuel.

FilmAid Kenya celebrates women and girls taking climate action at all levels by amplifying their voices and supporting their work to address the gaps related to a sustainable future in Kakuma Refugee Camp, the Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement, and the Dadaab Refugee Complex and their hosting communities.

The promotion of positive outcomes in women empowerment is guided by our Theory of Change which is based on the integration of Creativity, Participation, Access, and Collaboration, which drive individual and community change thereby contributing to positive social impact.  This is through working with our community structures within our affected communities and their hosting populations, to support behavior change through creative multimedia and community engagement and accountability approaches.
