"My goal is to use photography, directing, and media skills to support and showcase my foundation and salon and to open my production studio."

My interest in directing and producing sparked while acting in the "Sandstorm" series with FilmAid. Watching the directors and producers at work, I was impressed by their skills and the process. After acting in several movies, I realised my true passion lies behind the camera. I liked how producers had to be creative, from problem-solving when unexpected issues arose, such as dealing with rain during a scheduled shoot, to travelling to scout for new locations. This was something I wanted to be a part of.

In 2021, I launched my salon, "Elizabeth Beauty Salon", offering hair, nails, and makeup services. I realised that the skills required for directing also applied to my role in the salon, where I directed and guided people in tasks like hair styling and makeup. This experience got me interested in directing. Opening my own business also sparked my interest in photography, as I needed quality photos to showcase my work on my page and attract more clients. Instead of hiring someone, I decided to learn photography myself. Whenever I see my friend MC Touchez with a camera, I ask him to teach me how to use it and practice taking photos myself. 

With my experiences in acting and running my own business, I joined the FilmAid media class as it was an excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills in directing, producing, and photography. I dream of using these skills to help my business and open my production studio. I want to shoot short stories that depict the realities of life in Kakuma, focusing on empowering youth to realise their potential when they choose the right path. I also have a foundation called "Elizabeth Foundation'', which provides a three-month course teaching women skills like hairdressing, knitting, sewing, and other crafts. I also want to use my learning skills to bring the foundation to light.
