International Day of Education, January 24th 2022
Changing Course, Transforming Education
This year’s International Day of Education recognizes the important transformation that has to be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build a more sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful future.
The aim is to seek solutions on how to strengthen education as a public endeavour and common good, how to steer the digital transformation, support teachers, safeguard the planet and unlock the potential in every person to contribute to the collective well-being of our shared home.
FilmAid Kenya in partnership with The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), UNHCR, Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Windle International Kenya, and Finn Church Aid (FCA) among others seeks to improve the delivery of the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in refugee camps and their hosting communities.
The promotion of positive outcomes in education is guided by our Theory of Change which is based on the integration of Creativity, Participation, Access, and Collaboration, which drive individual and community change thereby contributing to positive social impact. This is through working with education stakeholders in Kakuma and Dadaab, to support the delivery of the Competency-Based-Curriculum through creative multimedia and community engagement approaches e.g. dissemination of the CBC curriculum in the local languages through radio to enhance learning outcomes of children, as one of our activities in addressing the gaps related to access to quality education in Kakuma and Dadaab Refugee Camps, and their hosting communities.
